How To Buy Cable Railing

Deck Railing

1. Choose your railing.

6' or 8' on-center in-line rail sections. 36 in. or 42 in. tall. Hardware included.

2. Choose your posts.

2.5 in. by 2.5 in. post kits. Line posts are placed between 2 railing sections. End posts are used to end each cable run. Corner posts are used for, you guessed it, corners. Trim and post cap included with each post.

Stair Railing

Have stairs? Continue steps 3 & 4. If not, skip to step 5!

3. Choose your stair railing.

6' or 8' stair top rail sections. Hardware included.

4. Choose your stair posts.

2.5 in. by 2.5 in. post kits. Middle stair posts are installed between 2 railing sections. Use a bottom stair post to end each cable run. Trim and post cap included.

Cable & Extras

5. Choose your cable.

Available in pre-cut lengths, one cable per pack. Purchase (10) sets for each 36" railing section and (12) for each 42" railing section. Trim to fit. Each cable & hardware kit includes stainless steel cable with pre-attached threaded stud and pull-lock fitting, in 5', 10', 15', 20', 25', 30', 40', and 50' lengths.

6. Figure out your "extras"

Need extra top rail brackets or stair top rail brackets because you have to cut a section of railing? We also recommend grabbing a mandrel & cut-off wheel kit to cut your extra cable flush without damaging your posts and the cable release key to release any cable tension.
