The Outdoor Essentials® PicketLock™ vinyl fencing line includes compatible fence panels, gates, brackets, and posts that are used together to build a fence. What makes this line great for DIYers is how easily fence and gate panels are assembled.
With PicketLock, to assemble a panel, you slide and lock pickets into rails. Because fasteners or glue aren’t used, your fence will have a cleaner look. To build the fence, attach finished panels to compatible PicketLock posts with PicketLock brackets.
What’s in a PicketLock fence panel kit
PicketLock panel kits come with rails and pickets (and sometimes brackets). Each picket has a notch at the bottom and the top. The rails have tabs that fit into the notches. This secures the picket into place without glue or fasteners.
The following overviews show how easy it is to assemble spaced picket and privacy panels. Keep in mind, these are general overviews. Be sure to follow the manufacturer instructions included with the fence panels you purchase.
HOW TO ASSEMBLE A PICKETLOCK SPACED PICKET PANEL
Step 1: Gently open a rail and insert picket (this will be the bottom rail).
Step 2: Slide picket through the hole in the rail.
Step 3: Push the picket through the hole in the remaining rail (this will be the top rail). Continue pushing picket until the tab in the bottom rail aligns with the notch on the picket bottom. That’s the stopping point.
Step 4: Insert the remaining pickets.
Step 5: After all pickets are inserted and aligned, snap rails into the picket notches.
HOW TO ASSEMBLE A PICKETLOCK PRIVACY FENCE PANEL
Privacy fence pickets attach to rails a little differently than spaced pickets.
Step 1: Align a picket with the channel in the bottom rail. Slide it in.
Step 2: Insert remaining pickets (make sure the design faces in the same direction). Tightly align the tongue of one picket into the groove of the next as you slide them into the channel.
Step 3: When all pickets are inserted, slide the second rail over the top of the pickets. You’re done!
- Attach the completed panel to compatible posts with PicketLock brackets.
- Top fence posts with coordinating vinyl fence post caps (sold separately).
- Stand and stare admiringly at your new fence. Good job!
