Teak is a prized wood for outdoor furniture. Properly dried teak is highly resistant to deterioration from weather, bugs, and mold because of its tight grain and high level of oils. The center (heart) wood contains more oil and makes superior, long-lasting furniture. Some oil will migrate to the surface of new teak furniture and, the first few times it rains, leach out and stain fabric. So, pull these chairs out from under the table during the first few rainfalls. This process stops after the furniture begins to turn gray.
Left untreated, the dining set’s golden brown color will gradually weather to a neutral gray. Checking (small cracks) may appear on the end grain of the wood—this is normal and will not affect structural integrity.
The table and chairs are solid teak heart wood from responsibly harvested, mature trees. The wood is kiln dried to eliminate shrinking, so your furniture will keep its structural integrity.
Furniture is built with dowels, mortise-and-tenon joints and 304-grade stainless steel hardware. Each piece is hand sanded on all sides.
HiTeak teak furniture needs minimal care. To clean, hose down (do not pressure wash). Scrub with soft brush and mild soapy water. For deeper cleaning, use HiTeak Teak Cleaner, sold separately.
Manufacturer does not recommend using teak oils or finishes other than HiTeak Teak Protector, sold separately. Using any other oils or finishes will void the warranty.
