TRANSFORMER REQUIRED. These low-voltage lights cannot be hooked up to an ordinary electrical outlet. They’ll need to be connected to a transformer to reduce 120-volt household electricity to a safe 12-volt current. You will need a 12V AC system or a 9-15V DC system if you’re using a remote or dimmer.
WHICH SIZE TRANSFORMER WILL I NEED?
You will need a transformer that exceeds the total wattage of the lights you are tying together. You should aim for the total wattage to be about 60% capacity of the transformer.
To figure out the total wattage, add up the wattage of each fixture being used.
For example, if you’re using 10 lights rated at 1.5 watts each, your system’s total wattage is 15 watts. You’ll want a transformer with a load of 25 watts—60% of 25 = 15. If you have questions, our customer service team can assist.
Do not connect to extension cords.
Low-voltage cable and cable connectors can be buried no more than 6 inches deep.
