If you like the warm look of natural wood and also like to stir things up, UFP-Edge Charred Wood Shiplap is for you. The wood's surface has been carefully burned to deeply toast its distinct grain. The result is shiplap boards with variable degrees of char, so your project will be unique. Finish your accent wall with matching square-edge and trim boards (available separately).
Both sides of the boards have rabbeted edges for a true shiplap look. Boards overlap, ends butt up together. Exposed face is 4-5/8 inches. 4 boards cover about 12.33 square feet. Boards are kiln dried to reduce warp and shrinkage.
Top and edges of the boards are charred, not back. Stainable, but test first to make sure you like the result. A light satin clear coat protects charred areas from smudging. However, if you'll use it in high-traffic or wet areas (kitchen, bathroom), manufacturer recommends using a polyurethane sealer.
Use charred shiplap indoors only.
READ THIS ABOUT COLOR: The amount of charring varies between boards depending on the amount of natural streaks and knots. Some boards will be lighter than others. If consistency is important for your project, we recommend ordering at least 10% more wood than you think you need.
Installation notes: UFP-Edge Charred Wood Shiplap is decorative - not for structural purposes. It can be installed on walls and ceilings, vertically or horizontally. Product must be fastened to structural members at a maximum 24 inches on center.
