Teak is a tropical wood prized for its naturally high levels of oil and silica or rubber. Outdoor furniture made from properly dried teak maintains its integrity, resisting deterioration from weather, bugs and mold. Expect teak to gradually weather to a soft gray. This takes 9-24 months. Any variations in color will even out over time. Checking (small cracks) may appear on the end grain of the wood—this is normal and does not affect structural integrity.
The natural oils migrate to the surface of new teak, bleeding out after the first few rainfalls. This process stops after the furniture has begun to turn gray.
This chair is carefully built with mature, responsibly grown teak. All parts are choice, knot-free heart wood. Wood is kiln dried to reduce shrinking that could affect structural integrity. The chair is built with traditional joinery—dowels and mortise-and-tenon joints. Hardware is 304-grade stainless steel. Furniture has been sanded on all sides.
HiTeak teak furniture needs minimal care. To clean, hose down (do not pressure wash). Scrub with soft brush and mild soapy water. For deeper cleaning, use HiTeak Teak Cleaner, sold separately.
Manufacturer does not recommend using teak oils or finishes other than HiTeak Teak Protector, sold separately. Using any other oils or finishes will void the warranty.
