ABOUT TEAK

Teak is ideal for long-lasting outdoor furniture. The wood has a tight grain and high oil content. Properly dried, it’s practically immune to deterioration from weather, bugs, and mold. The center (heart) wood contains more oil and is even better. Some oil will move to the surface of new teak furniture and leach out the first few times it rains. This process stops after the furniture begins to turn gray. Left untreated, new teak’s golden brown color will gradually weather to a neutral gray. Checking (small cracks) may appear on the end grain of the wood—this is normal and will not affect structural integrity.

CONSTRUCTION

The umbrella’s structural components are solid teak heart wood from responsibly harvested, mature trees. The wood is kiln dried to eliminate shrinking to maintain structural integrity. Wood is hand sanded on all sides.

CARE

HiTeak teak furniture needs minimal care. To clean, hose down (do not pressure wash). Scrub with soft brush and mild soapy water. For deeper cleaning, use HiTeak Teak Cleaner, sold separately. Manufacturer does not recommend using teak oils or finishes other than HiTeak Teak Protector, sold separately. Using any other oils or finishes will void the warranty.
