Product Overview
This slatted teak bench is beautiful enough to sit in your entry or your garden. Or both—just move it indoors come winter. But you certainly don’t have to. The gorgeous, knot-free teak heart wood is rich in oils that protect the wood from deterioration, so it’s fine to leave it outside all year.
ABOUT TEAK
When if comes to beauty and long-lasting performance, teak is an excellent choice for outdoor furniture. Teak is highly resistant to deterioration from weather, rot, and bugs, because of its tight grain and high oil content. The center (heart) wood contains more oil and is therefore more valued. Some oil moves to the surface of new teak furniture and will leach out during the first few rains. This process stops after the furniture begins to turn gray.
The bench’s golden brown color will gradually weather (in 9-24 months, depending on climate) to a neutral silver-gray shade. Checking (small cracks) may appear on the end grain of the wood—this is normal and will not affect structural integrity.
CONSTRUCTION
The Park bench is made of teak heart wood from responsibly harvested, mature trees. The wood is kiln dried to eliminate shrinking, so your furniture will keep its structural integrity and resist deterioration from weather, bugs or mold.
Furniture is built with dowels, mortise-and-tenon joints and 304-grade stainless steel hardware. Each piece is hand sanded on all sides.
CARE
HiTeak teak furniture needs minimal care. To clean, hose down (do not pressure wash). Scrub with soft brush and mild soapy water. For deeper cleaning, use HiTeak Teak Cleaner, sold separately.
Manufacturer does not recommend using teak oils or finishes other than HiTeak Teak Protector, sold separately. Using any other oils or finishes will void the warranty.
