Teak is one of the best woods for outdoor furniture. It’s tight grained and rich in oils that help prevent deterioration from weather, bugs, and mold. The center (heart) wood contains more oil and is therefore more prized. These oils move to the surface of new teak furniture. During the first few rainfalls, the oils will bleed out. This process stops when the furniture starts turning gray. New teak furniture’s golden brown color will slowly weather to a soft, neutral gray (it takes 9-24 months). Checking (small cracks) may appear on the end grain of the wood—this is normal and will not affect structural integrity.

The Draper chair is made using heart wood from responsibly harvested, mature trees. The wood is kiln dried to eliminate shrinking, so your furniture will keep its structural integrity and resist deterioration from weather, bugs or mold. Furniture is built with dowels, mortise-and-tenon joints and 304-grade stainless steel hardware. Each piece is hand sanded on all sides.

HiTeak teak furniture needs minimal care. To clean, hose down (do not pressure wash). Scrub with soft brush and mild soapy water. For deeper cleaning, use HiTeak Teak Cleaner, sold separately. Manufacturer does not recommend using teak oils or finishes other than HiTeak Teak Protector, sold separately. Using any other oils or finishes will void the warranty.
